The world health organisation states that the biggest contributing factor to dementia progression is social isolation. We also know that feeling connected and productive leads to a greater sense of wellbeing and happiness. Memory Box is planning to open a specific Memory Care Day Stay which will allow people living at home with dementia to come to us for a day program. This program will be running using evidence based activities to promote social engagment, belonging and a sense of purpose. We all want to feel like contributing members of society but so often we view our elderly and especially those living with dementia as unable to participate, but at the Memory Care Day Stay they will participate and connect through all sorts of activities from sewing for a local charity, gardening for a local foodback, furniture restoration, music (putting on concerts not just being entertained) and many many more. Whilst this is not up and running yet, if you are interested please contact Memory Box so we can keep you in the loop and pop you on our waiting list.
