Massage

Gentle massage helps with pain relief by using releasing tense muscles, general relaxation and we use heat to warm joints and muscles.  It improves circulation, especially in the feet and legs which allows increased warmth and feeling into the feet.

Dementia is often the area we see the biggest benefit of massage.  Clients love the one on one time, the physical human contact and that they are having something so nurturing and caring.

In Home Support

If you have a loved one living in a home setting we can visit. This is not only companionship but also will do activities that will stimulate and activate your loved one. The World Health Organisation states that the biggest factor that increases the rate of development of Dementia is social isolation. By having a trained Dementia Specialist come to your home and connect with your loved one and stimulate them can literally slow the progression of this disease.

Education

Whether you are a family member or a caregiver in a facility, caring for someone living with dementia is challenging and sometimes confronting. Having worked for twenty years with people living with dementia has given us the skills and experience to help with these situations. Memory Box runs in facility education programs and family workshops to give people the knowledge, understanding and strategies when caring for someone living with dementia.

Memory Day Stay

Memory Box is planning to open a specific Memory Care Day Stay which will allow people living at home with dementia to come to us for a day program. This program will be running using evidence based activities to promote social engagment, belonging and a sense of purpose.
